GOLF RULES  (PDF VERSION)

  1. GOLF SEASON - shall extend from April 1st through November 14th.
  2. GOLF COURSE: During the golf season (April 1st through November 14th), the golf course is closed on days when the Club is officially closed.  The Club will be closed on Mondays with the exception of holidays and Club events.  In those weeks when Monday is a holiday, the Club will be closed on Tuesdays.
  3. WINTER GOLF: (November 15th through March 31st- including January and February when the Clubhouse is closed) golf is permitted at the discretion of the Green Superintendent. Please observe and obey all posted signs:  e.- Course Closed, Green Closed, Path Closed etc.  Carts will be available at discretion of Green Superintendent. 
  4. COURSE CLOSED: When the sign is posted that the course is closed, which will be posted on #1 tee or the putting green, there will be no exceptions.  The posting of this sign is to avoid damage to the golf course.  Any member breaking this rule is subject to suspension.  Guests will be subject to disciplinary actions. 
  5. PLAY: S.G.A. Rules govern all play except as modified by local rules which appear on the back of each scorecard or posted from time to time. 
    1. ALL GOLFERS MUST CHECK IN AT PRO SHOP BEFORE PLAY. All play must start from #1 Tee unless instructed otherwise by the Golf Professional. 
    2. A match shall consist of two to four players. No match may be composed of more than four players. 
    3. A single player has no standing on the course and shall always give way to any match. Singles will be paired with others by the Professional staff, when possible.
    4. If a match fails to appear on time for its turn in accordance with its reserved playing time, it shall lose its place and will be assigned the next available time.
    5. If a match fails to keep its place and loses in distance more than one clear hole, it must permit a following match to pass through on request.
    6. If a ball is lost, the match coming up shall be immediately signaled to pass through and if not signaled, may demand the right to pass through. The passing match must be permitted to pass out of range. 
    7. A match is not permitted to hold its place by leaving one or more players behind to search for a lost ball.
  6. PROCEDURES FOR STARTING TIMES: All golfers in the group must check in at the Pro Shop before the start of play.
    1. TEE TIMES: Starting times shall be in effect during the golf season for all weekdays, weekends, and holidays. (April 1st- November 14th).
        1. The Pro Shop will accept calls and requests for starting times one week in advance. When requesting tee times, the names of the complete foursome must be stated.  Please declare if you have any female or junior golfers whose playing restrictions could govern the entire tee time.  
        2. No member is entitled to secure a second starting time on the same day until they have completed the first eighteen holes.
    2. COURSE AVAILABILITY: For all members course availability is subject change if the course is being used by an outside party or event.  Notice of such parties or events will be published and posted ahead of time in the golf schedule, weekly news from the Pro Shop, Club newsletters and in the locker rooms.  You will also be advised by our staff of such events when asking for a requested starting time.
    3. EVENTS ON THE COURSE:  All members must wait until the field of an event has teed off before starting play.  The professional staff will inform you if there is any delay to your starting time upon your arrival.
  7. GENERAL PLAYING PRIVILEGES: NOTE:  Your membership category dictates when you can play and will take precedence over the other players in your match if you have restrictions.  Refer to your specific membership classification for more details.
    1. MALE MEMBERS:
      1. THURSDAY (LADIES DAY): Men may tee off after 12:00 p.m. using NUMBER ONE tee only subject to course availability by securing a tee time. 
      2. TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, AND FRIDAY: Men may tee off any time subject to course availability by securing a tee time. 
      3. SATURDAY, SUNDAY, AND HOLIDAYS: Men may tee off any time subject to course availability by securing a tee time. 
      4. MIXED GROUPS: Starting time restrictions for women and children also govern the starting time of when the entire group can play.
    2. FEMALE MEMBERS:
      1. THURSDAY (LADIES DAY): Women may tee off at any time, except the Women’s Golf Association events take precedent.  Women not in the event may only tee off at the discretion of the Golf Professional subject to course availability by securing a tee time.
      2. WEDNESDAY (MEN’S DAY): Women may tee off before 9:30 a.m. and/or after 2:00 p.m. subject to course availability by securing a tee time.
      3. TUESDAY AND FRIDAY: Women may tee off at any time subject to course availability by securing a tee time.    
      4. SATURDAY, SUNDAY, AND HOLIDAYS: Women can tee off starting at 10:00 a.m. subject to course availability by securing a tee time.
      5. MIXED GROUPS: Starting time restrictions for women and children also govern the starting time of when the entire group can play.
    3. CORPORATE MEMBERS: Playing privileges follow the above descriptions for men and women.
    4. TWILIGHT GOLF MEMBERS: Playing shall be restricted to any open golf day 3:30 p.m. subject to course availability and securing a tee time. 
    5. SOCIAL I MEMBERS: May play unlimited weekday rounds on a non-holiday Tuesday, Thursday or Friday subject to course availability by securing a tee time.  Can play all day on Tuesday, male members must tee off after 1:00 p.m. on Thursdays (Ladies Day), and all play on Friday must commence before 12:00 p.m.  Social I members will be permitted to play golf on weekends two times per month (April 1st-November 14th) after 1:00 p.m., excluding events, upon payment of green fees. 
    6. SOCIAL II MEMBERS: During the golf season (April 1st_November 14th) the social II member can play two times per month subject to course availability by securing a tee time on a non-holiday Tuesday, Thursday or Friday upon payment of green fees.  Can play all day on Tuesday, male members must tee off after 1:00 p.m. on Ladies Day, and all play on Friday must commence before 12:00 p.m.  Play at other times of the year (November 15th-March 31st) is unrestricted upon payment of green fees.  Putting green and practice area privileges are limited to the days of play.
    7. SOCIAL III MEMBERS: Do not have any golfing privileges.  Membership provides access to the pool and dining areas only.
    8. JUNIOR GOLFERS OF MEMBERS (Ages 16-18): Junior golfers typically can play:
      • Tuesday – All day
      • Wednesday – After 2:00 p.m.
      • Thursday – After 2:00 p.m.
      • Friday – All day
      • Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays – After 2:00 p.m.
      • Children over 16 years of age must be listed as a junior member of a golfing member and pay the appropriate fee for their playing privileges.  Otherwise, they will be required to pay a green fee in order to play golf subject to the restrictions applicable to juniors.  Junior golfers that are guests of our members must follow the above playing privileges. The entire tee time is governed by the restrictions on juniors. 
    9. CHILDREN OF MEMBERS (Under the age of 16):
      • Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or an adult member, unless given permission to play without supervision by the Golf Professional.  The entire tee time is governed by the restriction on children of members.
      • Play for children shall be restricted to the following:
        • Tuesday – All day
        • Wednesday – After 2:00 p.m.
        • Thursday and Friday – After 2:00 p.m.
        • Saturday, Sunday and Holidays – After 2:00 p.m.
    10. JUNIOR NON-PARENTAL GOLF MEMBERS: Can tee off any day after 2:00 p.m. subject to course availability.  The entire tee time is governed by the restrictions on the Junior Non-Parental golfer.
    11. DINING MEMBERS: Do not have any golf privileges.
  8. EVENTS:
    1. Participation in golf events is limited to Active, Non- Equity, Senior, Super Senior, Corporate, Honorary and Intermediate I, II and III members. Non-Resident members can participate in Club golf events except the Club Championship upon payment of green fees.  Every participant must have a current handicap which will be determined by the golf professional.  Twilight members can participate in the Men’s STAG. 
    2. Tournament matches must be played on or before the dates scheduled. The Golf Committee will declare all matches defaulted which do not comply.
    3. Tournament players do not have the right of way on the golf course unless they are finalists in the Club Championship.
    4. In order to obtain a handicap, a member must turn in five attested scores. Members must compete in handicap events at scratch unless they have an official handicap approved the by the Golf Professional.
  9. GUEST POLICY – GOLF:
    1. GUEST GREEN FEES:
      • Guest Green Fee:  $75.00                                                                                                                                              
      • Bond Holding Members Guest Green Fee:  $45.00
      • Unaccompanied Guest Green Fee:  $75.00
      • ALL GUESTS MUST TAKE A CART.  Cart fee is an additional charge.                                                                                                                                                           
    2. DEFINITION OF A GUEST: A guest must be a non-member
    3. A guest may not use the golf course more than twice in any calendar month. A member inviting a guest is responsible to determine if that guest has previously visited the Club during the current calendar month on two occasions, excluding attendance at affairs held in contract agreements with the Club.  The two-visit limitation may be waived for out of town guests or special guests only at the discretion of the Golf Professional.
    4. The member is responsible for all his guests’ charges including green and cart fees and any house fees incurred.
    5. From May 1st through September 30th:
      1. Wednesdays – a member is limited to three guests with whom he must play.
      2. Saturday, Sunday and holidays – members will be permitted to bring only one guest per member until 11:00 a.m.  After 11:00 a.m. members will be permitted to bring three guests per member.  The member must play in the same foursome as his guests.
    6. A member may arrange for as many as eight (8) golfers to play as his guests on Tuesday, Thursday after 12:00 p.m. or Friday by prior arrangement with the Golf Professional. The member need not play with his/her guests on these days.
    7. Guests numbering more than eight (8) will be considered a party and will be subject to party rate fees.
  1. GOLF PARTIES:
    1. Any member entertaining more than eight guests.
    2. Guests will be considered a party. The Club must have notification at least one week in advance and tee times will be assigned.  Party green fees will be charged. 
    3. Outside parties shall be scheduled by reservation only advance approval by the General Manager and Golf Professional.
    4. Outside parties shall not be permitted on the course Thursdays before 12:00 p.m.
  2. ATTIRE: 
    1. Nemacolin’s dress code policy will be applicable seven days per week: no tank tops, no cutoffs, no short shorts, no jogging shorts, and no bare feet.  Denim is permitted in the Grille Room, Locker Room ,and Pro Shop.  Blue jeans or denim shorts are not permitted in the Ball Room area or on the golf course.  Gentlemen, no hats are permitted to be worn inside the Grille Room or on the Ballroom level.  This policy will be strongly enforced.  Please be advised that club members are always responsible for their guests’ conduct and mode of dress.  Our staff will kindly remind you and your guests of the dress code if needed.
    2. Golfers may play in shorts (no denim or gym shorts) but must wear a collared shirt or some other appropriate covering for the upper portion of the body. Shirts are to be tucked in.
    3. Golf shoes must be worn on the greens at all times, including the putting green.
    4. NO PERSON IS PERMITTED ON THE PUTTING GREEN OR ON THE GOLF COURSE IN A SWIMSUIT.
    5. High heeled shoes or rippled soled shoes are not permitted at any time on any green by spectators or golfers.
  3. PRACTICE:  Practice on the course is permitted with permission and guidance of the Golf Professional, upon payment of a cart fee, repair of all damage, and without interference to others.  Chipping is NOT allowed on the practice putting area or tee box. 
  4. CADDIES, CARTS, CARRYING YOUR OWN BAG:
    1. Players may carry their own bag (see C.), use a caddie, or rent a golf cart.
    2. PULL CARTS: Pull carts are permitted on the golf course during walking hours only (after 1:00 p.m) and not during club events. 
    3. BAG CARRYING PERMITTED AS FOLLOWS:
      • Weekdays:  Before 9:00 a.m. and after 1:00 p.m.
      • Weekends and Holidays:  Before 8:00 a.m. and after 1:00 p.m.
      • NO BAG CARRYING DURING ANY CLUB EVENTS
      • CERTIFICATE HOLDERS ONLY: (Guests not included) Upon payment of one cart fee, may play a second round of golf the same day at no additional cart fee charge.
  5. WALKING TRAIL FEE: All walkers from April 1st to November 14th whether carrying their own bag, using a pull cart, or taking a caddie will be charged a $5.00 walking trail fee for 1-18 holes played.  An additional $5.00 fee will be charged if more than eighteen holes are played.  Certificate holders will only pay one $5.00 fee per day no matter how many holes are played.
  6. LOCKER ROOM: Bath towels are NOT permitted to be taken on the golf course at any time.  They are for locker room use only.  Golf towels will be provided at the Caddyshack.
  7. Golfing beginners are requested to check with the Golf Professional before they use the golf course.
  8. INSURANCE:  Each member should have insurance coverage for any liability arising from their actions resulting in bodily injury or property damage while on Club property.  Most homeowner’s comprehensive liability policies include this protection.  When an accident occurs, it is the responsibility of the member to immediately report the facts to the General Manager or Golf Professional so that emergency first aid can be arranged for the injured person be he a caddie, guest, member, or spectator.  
  9. SPECIAL NOTICE: Members and guests are reminded that neither Nemacolin Country Club nor the Golf Professional and his staff are liable for property or equipment kept or stored at the Clubhouse or the club storage building.  It is suggested that all members check their insurance policies to make sure that their clubs, luggage or other equipment is covered in the event of theft, fire or other loss. 
  10. HOLE IN-ONE-INSURANCE: All golfing memberships, excluding Social II and Junior members will be assessed $2.00 per person per hole-in-one.  This insurance provides one free drink (any beverage) to golfers only, on the day of the hole-in-one only, and a $100.00 gift certificate to the person making the hole-in-one from the Golf Professional.  Drinks will be served in the Grille Room only and will commence only after the person scoring the hole-in-one has entered the Grille Room.  Each recipient will be asked to sign a special tab.
  11. The Golf Committee reserves the right to rescind or alter any of the above rules to facilitate play on weekends, holidays, golfing party days and special event days such as exhibitions, tournaments, etc. on which starting times may be assigned.
  12. HOLIDAYS: We observe the following holidays and require tee times for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day.  Golfers with restrictions on holiday play will need to recognize these holidays
